Deals of the week

So I have challenged myself with getting my grocery bill under $50 a week. Ambitious, but I think it's doable... Last week it was at $52. I thought that was pretty good considering I brought 2 families meals as well as getting things for mine... this week was not so good. $60. But it was a huge cleaning supply week though - I guess that always raises the $$.

Good deals I've gotten this week:

Target:
Monopoly game $7.50
Christmas decoration $3 - originally $200+
-felt tree skirts (10) going to chop them up and use them to make stockings - cheaper than buying off the bolt stockings (.15 each)
-Candy Canes (2 pcks of 20) Good through 2012... so for .50 each why not save them til next year... I'll risk the $1
-Christmas ornaments for next year (For Mac to give his Grandma's)
 .29 originally 7.99 each
CVS
Pampers (80ish count box) Sz 3 cruisers for  $11 - orginally $21
Lucky Charms Cereal $.80 a box

Walgreens
2 Free Reach Toothbrushes! (org 2.99) Combined manufacturer's coupons and store q's!
4 Lysol Products $1 each (org 3.49) (it was BOGO and I had coupons!)
Schick Razors 4 packs of 4 razors plus 2 extra in each for $6 total (orig $22)... yay!

Walmart:
Christmas PJs for Mac next year $2.50
(2) 10 pack of gift boxes .50

Ah well... lots of coupons in this upcoming paper... we shall see what is accomplished this coming week!

My Little Shadow...

I have always known that children imitate what they see. I guess I didn't realize how EARLY that started... Mac has started to "treasure" the things I think he sees me with the most. Namely, my phone, my keys, and the remotes. I would like to say that it's because they are shiny (the remotes are not) because they jingle (again the remote doesn't nor my phone). But I know without a doubt if I am trying to get him to exercise, I will only have to put my phone out of his reach and he will wiggle his way to it.. Perhaps I need to worry less about a text and phone call.

Back, hopefully for good

OK - So I must say, I've been terrible at keeping this up over the holiday season - making christmas presents must start earlier next year...

Anyway, my challenge for the new year is to only spend $50 a week on groceries. Not sure how it will work. I am going to try very hard and will let you know how it goes... Today was my first day and I think it kind of worked....

Here's what I got today for $51.47 this week:

2 gallons of milk ($2 each)
8 sobes ($1.20 each)
1 - 8 pack of meijer brand gatorade ($4)
hamburger bun pack (.99)
bacon bits (.99)
off brand cheese doritos (.99)
corn chips (.99)
14 cups of yogert ($3.5)
walmart brand fiesta cheese ($1)
family pack of chicken ($1.79lb)
2 - 12 pack of off brand soda (rootbeer and orange) $1.50 each
onions $1.29
3lb potatoes ($1)
2 packages off brand poptarts 12 count ($1.27 each)
Oatmeal cream pies (8 count) ($1)
navel oranges 3lb bag (1.99)
eggs (1.64)
all beef hot dogs ($.75)
bag of mini marshmellows (.99)
green onions (.99)

So all in all I am kind of proud of myself... hopefully I will be able to succeed... we'll see.
